The Gunn & Moore 2027 cricket bat range is built on four English willow shapes: the Cannon, the Azora, the Maxi and the Galaxy. Each shape is made in a set of DXM® grades, from the Limited Edition at the top down to the 404, and the Azora and Maxi also come in lightweight Delta versions. Every GM English willow bat in the 2027 range is made in England from prime English willow. Below the English willow range sit three Kashmir willow bats for juniors, beginners and casual players.
2027 is a big year for GM. The Cannon is the new Jacob Bethell bat, the Azora is a completely new shape, the Maxi returns in a yellow and black livery with an extended spine, and the Galaxy gets a new livery and an extended spine too. The Ben Stokes Diamond DXM and the Radon carry on from 2026. This guide explains every shape and grade, and shows which GM bats VKS has chosen for 2027.
We have not taken the full GM catalogue. Instead we have picked the bats we think give the best choice across every shape and budget: seven Cannon grades, eight Azora bats including two Delta models, three Maxi grades, the Diamond DXM 808 and the Radon in senior sizes, plus six junior bats.

SH is Short Handle and L555 and L540 are GM's blade lengths in millimetres. Sizes are those GM makes; ask us which sizes we have in stock.
The Cannon is the backbone of our GM range, from the Limited Edition down to the 404, with four junior grades. It suits the widest range of players because of its traditional blade length and all-round swell.
The Azora is GM's brand new shape for 2027, and we carry it from the Limited Edition to the 606, plus the 808 and 606 Delta for players who want a lighter pick-up.
The Maxi is the power shape, and we carry it in the 808, 606 and 404 grades.
The Diamond DXM 808 is the Ben Stokes bat, in senior and junior sizes, and the Radon is a great value English willow bat for players who want genuine English willow at a lower price.

Cannon, Azora, Maxi and Galaxy figures are from GM's 2027 product information. The Diamond DXM and Radon carry on from the 2026 range, so their figures are from the 2026 specification.
GM uses the same grade names across its shapes, so a Cannon 808 and an Azora 808 sit at the same point in the range. GM's 2027 list runs from the Limited Edition at the top, through the Original, 909, 808, Signature and 606, down to the 404. As with most bat makers, the higher grades use more select willow and cost more, while the lower grades give you the same shape at a more affordable price.
Not every shape is made in every grade. The table shows which grades GM makes in each shape for 2027, with the grades we stock marked.

Delta is GM's lightweight option. GM says DXM 2.0 delivers its Delta CAD/CAM machining for unrivalled power and pick-up in SuperLight optimised profiles, and calls Delta the bat of choice for accessible lightweight power. Delta bats have an L540 blade, a 310mm handle and an F2 face, and for 2027 they come in the Azora and Maxi shapes in Short Handle only.
At VKS: Limited Edition, Original, 909, 808, Signature, 606 and 404, plus Original, 808, 606 and 404 junior bats

The Cannon is GM's new bat for England batter Jacob Bethell, and the centrepiece of his JB82 range. GM's line for it is ‘Built to change the game’. Bethell has used GM bats since he was a youngster, and scored an Ashes century in Sydney. GM designed the Cannon with him for players who want to attack from ball one, with a powerful profile and an effortless pick-up.
The Cannon has a traditional L555 blade, a 295mm handle, an F4.5 face profile and a Powerarc bow. Its mid-to-low swell, substantial edges and flowing spine are designed for the all-round shot maker, equally at home clearing the ropes or driving through the field. It is finished with GM's Pro-Lite grip, which GM calls its lightest ever.

The Azora is a completely new addition to the GM range for 2027, and GM calls it the arrival of a completely new GM silhouette. It pairs a striking, imposing profile with an exceptional weight-to-feel ratio, so the bat feels effortless in the hands but delivers serious authority at impact.
The Azora is built for dominant front-foot play. It has a shortened L540 blade, a 310mm handle, a pronounced low swell and sweeping contours, with an F2 face profile and Powerarc bow to maximise performance through the stroke. It is finished with the Fuze grip. The Azora is made in Short Handle only.

GM calls the Maxi a legend of a previous era, and for 2027 it continues its evolution for the modern power player. It is built for hitters who want to dominate the boundary. A bold, imposing profile, pronounced low swell and substantial edges give clean strikers the confidence to attack from the outset, while a dynamic pick-up keeps the bat moving at speed.
New for 2027 are an extended spine, a yellow and black livery and the new Signet grip, made of premium soft rubber with a geometric shield pattern for traction and control. The Maxi has a shortened L540 blade for a dynamic sweet spot, a 310mm handle, an F2 face profile, a Powerarc bow and a low swell for powerful front-foot striking. It is made in Short Handle only.

The Galaxy is GM's shape for players who want presence at the crease. For 2027 it has a striking new livery and an extended spine, which GM says gives the mass and stability to strike with authority. A mid-to-high swell gives a fast, lightweight feel through the hands, so the Galaxy combines balance, pick-up and power.
The Galaxy has a shortened L540 blade, a 310mm handle, an F2 face profile and a Powerarc bow. It is finished with the Galaxy grip, which has a metallic textured surface for precise traction and control. The Galaxy G14 is a grade only made in the Galaxy shape, and comes in senior and junior sizes. The Galaxy is not part of the VKS 2027 range, but our team is happy to talk you through how it compares with the GM bats we stock.

At VKS: Diamond DXM 808 (senior and junior) and Radon DXM TT

The Diamond DXM 808 is the Ben Stokes bat. It is not part of GM's 2027 new product list, so it continues to the 2026 specification. It suits club batters who score all around the ground, with a traditional L555 blade, a 295mm treble spring cane handle, an F4.5 face, a Powerarc bow, a mid swell, 35mm edges and a flowing contoured spine. It is made in Nottingham from Grade 2 unbleached English willow, weighs 2lb 9oz to 2lb 12oz, and comes with the Halo grip and ToeTek toe protection. We also stock the Diamond DXM 808 in junior sizes Harrow, 6 and 5.
The Radon DXM TT is unchanged for 2027. It is a great value Short Handle bat, made in England from seasoned Grade 4 English willow, with a performance face profile, a factory fitted grained polycarbonate cover, a TOETEK toe guard and a Control grip, in a blue and red livery.
At VKS: Cannon 101 (junior sizes)

GM makes three Kashmir willow bats for 2027. They are made for juniors, new players and casual cricket, and cost much less than an English willow bat.
| Model | Inspired by | What sets it apart | Sizes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cannon 202 | Jacob Bethell | Grade 1 Kashmir willow, Ready to Play facing so no knocking in is needed, ToeTek toe guard, treble spring handle, Pro-Lite grip | SH, Harrow, 6, 5, 4 |

When you buy a Gunn & Moore bat from VKS, you get more than the bat:
Which Gunn & Moore bats does VKS stock for 2027?
VKS stocks a hand-picked range of GM 2027 bats rather than the full catalogue. In senior sizes this covers the Cannon DXM Limited Edition, Original, 909, 808, Signature, 606 and 404, the Azora DXM Limited Edition, Original, 909, 808, Signature and 606 plus the 808 Delta and 606 Delta, the Maxi DXM 808, 606 and 404, the Diamond DXM 808 and the Radon DXM TT. Our junior GM bats are the Cannon DXM Original, 808, 606 and 404, the Diamond DXM 808 and the Cannon 101 Kashmir willow bat.
What is the difference between the GM Cannon, Azora, Maxi and Galaxy?
The main differences are blade length and swell position. The Cannon has a traditional L555 blade, a 295mm handle, an F4.5 face and a mid-to-low swell for the all-round shot maker. The Azora, Maxi and Galaxy all have a shortened L540 blade, a 310mm handle and an F2 face. The Azora and Maxi have a low swell for front-foot hitting, and the Galaxy has a mid-to-high swell for balance and pick-up. The Maxi and Galaxy also have an extended spine for 2027.
What does Delta mean on a GM bat?
Delta bats are made with what GM calls DXM 2.0, its Delta CAD/CAM machining, to give a SuperLight optimised profile. GM describes Delta as the bat of choice for accessible lightweight power. For 2027, Delta versions are made in the Azora and Maxi shapes, in Short Handle only, with an L540 blade, a 310mm handle and an F2 face.
Is the GM Cannon the Jacob Bethell bat?
Yes. GM designed the Cannon with England batter Jacob Bethell, and it is part of his JB82 range. It has a traditional L555 blade, a mid-to-low swell, substantial edges, a flowing spine and GM's Pro-Lite grip, which GM calls its lightest ever. It is made in English willow grades from the Limited Edition to the 404, with junior sizes down to Size 2, and in Kashmir willow as the Cannon 202 and Cannon 101.
Which GM bats come in junior sizes for 2027?
In English willow, the Cannon comes in junior sizes in five grades: the Limited Edition (Harrow), Original (Harrow to Size 5), 808 (Harrow to Size 4), 606 (Harrow to Size 3) and 404 (Harrow to Size 2), plus the 404 Lite in Sizes 4, 3 and 2. The Galaxy 808 comes in Harrow to Size 5, and the Galaxy 606, G14 and 404 in Harrow to Size 4. The Azora and Maxi are Short Handle only. In Kashmir willow, the Cannon 202 goes down to Size 4, and the Cannon 101 and Diamond Kashmir go down to the Striker and Opener sizes.
Do GM English willow bats need knocking in?
Yes. Any new English willow bat needs its face compressed before it faces a hard ball, or the face can crack. VKS offers a traditional knocking-in service: £25 for bats bought from us and £35 for other bats, with a same-day option for an extra £15. The GM Cannon 202 Kashmir willow bat is different, because GM supplies it Ready to Play with a factory fitted protective facing, so it needs no knocking in.
Can I try GM bats before I buy?
Yes. Visit the VKS cricket store in Ealing, London, to pick up and compare bats from our GM 2027 range, and our team can help you choose the right shape, grade and size. You can also shop online.
